Ever wonder what gear you should take with you on a long bike ride, or what products are best? Check this page to find out what riding, motorcycle accessories, camping gear etc. Tebo is using. And get Tebo’s review and opinion on the gear that he uses.
As you already know, the most important gear you can have for a bike trip is your bike! I ride a 1991 Honda Goldwing GL1500 and love it! The bike has served me well. It has almost 120,000 miles on it and shows no signs of letting me down.
I have a trailer that hold my gear including camping gear, camera, extra gas (which has come in handy a few times, but was never really “needed”), and some other personal items. As I get time and inspiration I will ad to this page and let you know what I’m using that is working for me.
E-Z Touring Motorcycle Cover –
I have used a number of different covers for my bike and was not very happy with any of them. They just didn’t seem to fit quite right and none of them seemed to last very long. So While at Wing Ding in Tulsa, OK in July of 2009, I looked for a new cover and found one that I love. This has to be the best motorcycle cover money can buy. The E-Z Touring Motorcycle Cover is made in Madras, Oregon USA, of 1.9 oz. RIPSTOP nylon. It’s water proof, and will protect your bike from all the nasty’s floating in the air as well as the ones being deposited to earth and things on it by those flying feathered friends we all seem to have
around. And it actually fits my bike! Instead of making a one size fits all (that doesn’t actually fit), E-Z Touring makes different covers for different bikes. Just tell them what bike you have and they have one that will truly fit! I highly recommend this cover for all your bikes! You can get one online from http://www.eztouring.com/ or you can order by phone at 1-800-443-1443. Be sure to tell them Tebo from North American Biker sent you!
The latest essential piece of gear that I have found the STOP & GO POCKET TIRE PLUGGER. This little gadget is very simple to use and the ONLY tire plugger that I havefound that is “recommended for motorcycle tires.” I ran over a 6″ screw with my rear tire a few months ago and thought I was going to have to replace the tire. My intention was to find a tire plug kit that I could use to plug the tire long enough to get it to the shop and have the tire replaced.
I tried a standard tire plug kit and went for a very short and VERY CAREFUL test ride. The plug came out in only a few miles. So the search was on again. Then I found the Stop & Go Tire Plug Kit! I talked to a fellow biker that claimed he had put one of these plugs in an almost new tire and rode it until it wore out normally! I had to try it. So, I ordered the kit and plugged my tire.
The instructions with the kit say to plug the tire and ride to the nearest tire shop and have it fixed. So that’s what I would recommend you do as well. However, I decided that I wanted to see just how good this plug kit is, so I opted to take the risk and ride until I finish wearing out my rear tire. I have been riding on this plugged tire now for over 3 months and it’s still holding air! I’ve only added air once since plugging the tire with this kit, and it was only low about 2 lbs at that.
This is one tool that I will NOT ride without again. And I recommend that you don’t either. I would recommend the pocket version for motorcycles as it comes in a neat and small package just right for packing around on a bike. Since my Goldwing has an onboard air compressor on it, I use the standard kit, which does not include the optional CO2 cartridges to fill your tire.
